A tarot packs consists of 78 cards - 22 trumps, known as the major arcana, including 'The fool' which is not numbered, and 56 minor arcana, that is 52 ordinary cards with the addition of 4 horsemen or cavaliers in the court cards which ranks above the Jack and below the Queen. The suits are usually the Italian/Spanish suits of cups, coins, batons and swords. Tarot packs date back to the 15th century at least. The symbolism is probably much older. Divination and fortune telling with tarot cards became popular during the 19th century. Tarot cards from pre 1950 are quite hard to find. There are sometimes books on the Tarot on the book list. Tarock cards from Europe consist of 22 trump cards, numbered but different from Tarot trumps and 32 suit cards making 54 in total.
