[According to the previous owner this deck belonged to an engineer officer torpedoed by U-64 on SS Minnetonka off Malta January 1918 (4 fatalities) on route from Port Said to Marseille with mail. The officer was then a prisoner at Karlsruhe POW camp where the cards were acquired in exchange for cigarettes.] |
