Miniature cards very rare, early standard pattern miniature pack with square cut corners and no indices. Good quality card with enamelled plain green coloured backs. Red and black printing only. Ace of Spades: Goodall & Son London. 52 with the original outer part of the box. The cards are good VF, the box is worn and split but some of the wording can be read.

No.30 Patience cards -  Four corners of the World, this is a fascinating copy of the Dondorf No 27 patience. Round cornered with indices and a borders. The 4 Diamonds bears name and also the King of Hearts, all other courts are blank where original has 'Dondorf'. Tax on 4 Hearts. The legends for the aces are in Portuguese. Each suit represents a different continent.  Reverse: a mirror image of the Dondorf design without any writing..52 + most of the box (no top or bottom flap). Cards are used and only VF.  A rare item. (See also item 589). Card size 66x44mm.

Miniature cards of very good quality with continental style shaped pips and De La Rue court cards in black red and yellow colouring. This is a perfect little set in a superb leather box sold by Brew & Son of Piccadilly Circus London W. Both sets comprise 52 cards with a joker and a blank making 108 cards altogether. All in excellent condition.

Double set of patience cards  Anonymous De La Rue Ace of Spades. 2 indices, De La Rue courts in colour printing. Typical Victorian back designs, one floral, one geometric. 52+52 + very attractive Victorian leather box (some small scuff marks to edges.)  The cards are used VF with good quality surface. Suitable present.

Railway Pocket playing cards These were produced for sale at railway bookstalls. Anonymous De La Rue Ace of Spades. 2 indices, De La Rue courts in colour printing. 52+box VF. (The telescopic box has been neatly taped in the past with proper book tape and is complete, lack of pink surfacing to one end flap.) Unusual item.

Orient Line to Australia A really lovely early double patience set of cards in outstanding condition. Not rare, but I haven't seen one as good as this before. 52+J and 52+J with bright gold edges. Non-standard Ace of Spades for the Orient Line. Complete with special crested box, with advert inside, in excellent condition and gold edged 40 page booklet 'Some patience games' explained by HAH Carson printed by Waddington in 1924 with back page advert for Orient Line Mail Steamers. An excellent present for someone....

Named pair 'A double point' showing a good painting of two pointers on a heather moorland by Vaughan. Both sets of cards are in mint condition with fresh gold edges. 4 indices and a Waddington Ace of Spades. This set was imported into ARGENTINA by Mitchells' English Bookstore and has an Argentinean tax stamp on the Ace of Hearts and a retailer's label in the box. Box is not perfect but good. 52+J+1 and 52+J+1 + box and packer's slip. Lovely set.

Milady Playing Cards A very scarce double set of Universal miniature playing cards under the name 'Milady'. The court cards are printed in red and black only. The box is a typical little 1930s gem with thin gold lines on blue paper, textured gilt lining paper inside. 52 cards + another pack with the wrapper + the original box. All very good clean condition.

Patience cards with 17th Century court cards in a sort of coloured woodcut style. Very good quality cards with glazed surface. Would make a nice gift set for a patience player. 52+52 +4 jokers, 2 title cards, quality control slip and original box of wood covered with embossed paper. Cards VF and EF, box complete and good.

Patience cards Goodall Ace of Spades, joker and a familiar old style back design, but Waddington courts - a result of war-time collaboration between De La Rue (who issued Goodall cards, soon to disappear as a brand name) and Waddington. 52+J (good VF condition) and a sealed pack (mint) in tax wrapper (partly torn at one end), with the original box (exc.cond.) which has a watered-silk effect lining. Original price 8/3d.
