1930 Double pack of dancers by William Barribal.  'Amorette series' (nos. 373 and 374) slender cards. Silver pack 52+J, mauve pack 52, both used VF. Traces of gilt edges. Padded-top box. £45
         

SPORTING

 186  Goodall 1910  Golfing backs in red and white with contemporary golf clubs and balls. Goodall's Society style cards. 52+J. VF (Slight trace of elastic band across AS) £15 
275 Waddington 1925 Black Grouse named full colour design signed by William Barribal on gold and silver background. Buff coloured border. Gilt edges (worn). Wide bordered courts. 52 good VF with telescopic box, inner case printed with gold text ‘With compliments from OATES Ltd Worksop.’ £20

An even chance, narrow named cards with lovely greyhound racing picture. Produced for the WD &HO Wills promotion of the 1930s, this is one of the rarest designs. Double bezique set with 64 cards +1 joker, rules, 2 scoring markers and good hinge topped box. All very good condition, the cards excellent and silver edged. Would make a good present.

619 Waddington619 Miss Hittie.JPG (53601 bytes) 1935 Miss Hittie a fabulous golfing design from the 1930s featuring a very attractive girl. Artist uncertain. 'Narrow named' card with the title in gold. This would make a super present as it is complete and in mint condition. Unmarked gilded edges. 52+J  with original box. Mint condition (I suspect the tax wrapper was recently removed to see the cards as there are no signs of any use at all.) See also item 618 £34

Fly Fishing. Fishing theme back with five tied flies on oatmeal coloured background. An unusual theme for playing cards. Would make a good present. Goodall joker. 52+J + original attractive box.

 Fournier  1950 Bullfighting picture signed by Miguel, standard Fournier English pattern no.400. Maker’s name on 4C and AS, tax stamp on 4C for 5 pesetas. 52+2J with score card for canasta and poker. EF with gold corners. Telescopic box. £8

Illustrations of famous bull fighters by Antonio Casero, all 52 cards depict bull fighters past and present of the 20thC. Full colour pictures giving the name and the date at which they became matadors. There is an indistinct tax stamp on the 4 of clubs. Complete set (as originally issued) of 52 cards + 2 jokers + bridge score card + leaflet + packing slip + original plastic case with 'gold' inner lining. The cards and case are all in very good condition.
